The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) has declared last Saturday in October as National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The semi-annual event aims to provide a safe method of disposal for unused prescription drug medication. In light of the recent and growing opioid epidemic in the United States, this day is now more critical than ever.
Studies indicate that the majority of those who abused prescription drugs obtained the medicines from the homes of family and friends. The Take Back Day events seek to offer a convenient method for proper drug disposal and serve as a chance for Americans to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths.
